You can require a minimum rating, restrict to an era, to a country of origin (Korean, French, Japanese cinema…) or to specific genres. Ratings come from TMDB.

No, the app works without one: your lists stay on your device. An account (a username and a password) only serves to find your lists again on all your devices.
You can attach an email address to it, for one purpose only: resetting your password if you forget it — never a newsletter. It's optional, but without it a lost password is lost for good.
